Some of us dream of adventures; while some of us chase those dreams and make them happen. What is it that makes someone chase and chase, even in the face of repeated setbacks and failures? Come along and hear British adventurer Sarah Outen’s tale of her mission to loop the planet using human power and find out how she keeps chasing.
Since April 1st 2011 Sarah has kayaked, rowed and cycled nearly 15,000 miles from London , UK to Adak , Alaska – across Europe, Asia and the mighty North Pacific. Just over half-way home to London , she resumes the journey later this year with a mammoth 1400 mile kayaking journey through the Aleutian Islands later this year. In a talk of two halves, Sarah will be sharing tales of the journey so far – of Gao the Chinese guy who joined her on a whim to cycle across his country; of typhoons and depressions; of life in a tiny rowing boat in a storm-tossed ocean; of kayaking through the wilds of Russia ‘s Far East and the world’s busiest shipping lane; of pushing through the scorching heat of the Gobi desert and finding warmth and hospitality from strangers the world over.
Sarah is a warm and engaging speaker with a raft of tales to share. Join us for a loop of the world. Visit Sarah’s website to follow her adventure: http://www.sarahouten.com
