David has been exploring waterways with self-powered boats for over 50 years. His earliest paddling experiences began in the Ozarks, facilitated by his grandfather, who also helped instill the value of conserving rivers and all natural systems, and was instrumental in helping to get the Buffalo designated as the first National River in our nation. David has worked for many years selling canoes, kayaks, and related gear, as well as guiding trips and teaching paddling classes in Texas, Arkansas, and Oregon. David especially enjoys helping people of all ages get started (and restarted) in paddling adventures.
Other interests include native plants, camping, hiking, dutch oven cooking and differentiated curriculum in K-12 education.
