David Trageser (condensed to just “DT” these days) was born and raised along the banks of the Charles River in Newton,Massachusetts and caught the paddling bug very early in his life. Some of his earliest memories are of family canoe trips around the Northeastern US. His first job as a 14 year old was at his local paddle shop, Charles River Canoe & Kayak, where he became hopelessly addicted to boating and spent most all of his teenage years patrolling the docks and exploring the calm waters of his back yard river as well as many other bodies of water throughout New England. DT came to Oregon in 2003 and immediately fell in love with the striking beauty of the Pacific Northwest after spending 5 days kayaking around Waldo Lake as a part of his student orientation for Lewis & Clark College. DT joined the team at Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe in the Spring of 2008 after finishing his degree in history and cut his teeth on the sales floor at Jantzen Beach and on the water teaching the basics of kayaking and canoeing. In the fall of 2010, he moved into the purchasing department at Alder Creek and as of January 2014 is just starting to feel like he has the hang of things 🙂 These days you can find DT in the shipping & receiving office at the Jantzen Beach store or (hopefully) out playing on the coast or on one of the many world class rivers the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
