This class is offered at our Jantzen Beach Portland location.

This five-day course for kids 10-14 provides instruction in safety, paddle strokes, bracing, rescues, rolling, and hydrology. Days one, two, and three take place on flat water. Days four and five are conducted at a suitable river location. The exuberance and natural learning ability of children never fails to keep the instructors' creative juices flowing!

The Yakatak Kid's Class is usually scheduled once in Portland each summer. Call for details.

Outline:  Kids & Teens Yakatak

On the water, You Will Need:

- Tennis shoes or river sandals with wool socks or wetsuit booties
- Sunglasses with retention device (i.e. Croakies, Chums, etc)
- Sunscreen (SPF 30), lip balm (SPF 15)
- Sun hat, rain hat, and/or fleece hat
- Synthetic top and bottom (thermal underwear, heavier wt. for cooler weather)
- Rain coat and rain pants
- Nylon shorts and/or swimsuit
- Water bottle (1 quart)
- Towel and change of clothes for ride home
- Lunch and snacks

Meeting Place/Directions:
The Yakatak Classes are held in Portland. You will receive detailed instructions and a map with your confirmation packet.
