Adult: $125 + $25 for certificate
ALL PADDLING GEAR PROVIDED or bring your own
REFINEMENT LEVEL: BCU 3 Star Award or instructor's approval required
Location for this class will be determined by conditions.
Successful performance at this level indicates that a candidate has the personal skill level and leadership ability required to:
Lead a group of 4 (not including themselves) paddlers, on short (six to eight miles, of at least three hours paddling). Journeys in moderate tidal water environment with winds not exceeding force 4/sea state 4
Judge the conditions and the standard of the group and make appropriate decisions about the planned route along with the need to modify plans as required.
*The 4 star award is a leadership award and not a coaching award. It is not suitable for introducing beginners to the sport.
The BCU 4 Star Assessment will be scheduled periodically throughout the year. Call to reserve your spot in the next class.

On the water, You Will Need:
- Tennis shoes or river sandals with wool socks or wetsuit booties
- Sunglasses with retention device (i.e. Croakies, Chums, etc)
- Sunscreen (SPF 30), lip balm (SPF 15)
- Sun hat, rain hat, and/or fleece hat
- Synthetic top and bottom (thermal underwear, heavier wt. for cooler weather)
- Rain coat and rain pants
- Nylon shorts and/or swimsuit
- Water bottle (1 quart)
- Towel and change of clothes for ride home
- Lunch and snacks
Meeting Place/Directions:
The BCU 4 Star Assessment meets at a location to be determined based on conditions. You will receive detailed instructions and a map with your confirmation packet.
