This two day class will introduce students to paddling in current. It will be held in a location with eddies and a well-defined current stream. You will learn how to break in and out of eddies. You will also learn how to ferry across the current, forwards and backwards, and how to use ranges and other markers to judge position and speed. All of paddling skills you own will be applied and practiced in a moving water environment, including rolls, and rescues. We will explain the causes of tidal and non-tidal currents and the effects of topology and bathymetry on current. We will also emphasize the inherent dangers of moving water and the combined effects of wind and current on sea state.  Group car camping sites will be reserved for the group.

Tidal Currents will be scheduled a couple of times during the summer and fall. Call to reserve your spot in the next class.
